Big Roddy’s Ribs Rippin’ Through Brisbane

Market stall favourites, Big Roddy’s Rippin’ Rib Shack, is rippin’ it’s way through Brisbane city with a permanent location in Fish Lane, South Brisbane after a few prosperous years perfecting their secret rib recipe.

Best friends, Rod Saba and David Kempnich, started their hospitality project three years ago with combined strengths of cuisine and business management. Although, ribs weren’t initially on the table, after several attempts these entrepreneurs found cuisine gold – Chicago inspired style ribs. “It was Rod’s stroke of genius coming up with our secret method for cooking our ribs that really sealed the deal. After that moment, we both agreed to commit.” States Dave. After countless days devoted to satisfying rib cravings at Boundary Street Markets and King George Square, Big Roddy’s felt they had a significant response from customer interactions to go one step further by opening a permanent site to host top-notch food with a beer to match!

“Having a permanent location was always in the works”, Big Roddy discloses “selling food to the general public in the challenging environment of a temporary market was invaluable in terms of improving our efficiency and processes, but also a fantastic way to get our product out to people without the huge expense of opening a restaurant.”

A constantly changing environment could have ended years of hard work, yet Big Roddy’s continuous optimism and fun-loving spirit fuels their motivation to bring quality food into every rib-loving home. Starting a business is no easy deed and Big Roddy’s Rippin’ Rib Shack believes “Brisbane is as good a place as any for a budding entrepreneur to be.” The Aussie mates aspire to have a business that is “completely of our own making, that we can be proud of and enjoy the fruits of our own ideas and hard work.”

Big Roddy’s is making entrepreneurial visions come true this Saturday night from 5pm until late by opening their restaurant under Soda Apartments in South Bank’s trendy Fish Lane. No bookings are required.
