Rockhampton Ophthalmologist Dr David Kitchen is taking on energy drink giants with Kanguru, a new locally made, high-performance drink, specifically created to deliver smarter energy and well being benefits by using evidence-based ingredients.

David, a keen consumer of energy drinks, says he set out to create something better than a sugary energy hit. “The consumption of energy drinks is on the rise in Australia but many of the ingredients in existing brands have no real benefit or purpose and some have more than 10 teaspoons of sugar,” he says. Finding a market filled with misinformation, dubious benefit claims and often little or no evidence for ingredients used, David concluded the only way to enjoy a truly balanced, multi-purpose energy drink developed through a considered and scientific approach, was to create his own.

One of Australia’s first locally owned and manufactured energy drinks, Kanguru is a scientifically created product to energise mind and body. It elevates the concept of an energy drink to a  new level with a blend of Chinese, Korean and South American botanicals and contains no sugar. David admits it has been a technical challenge requiring thousands of samples but the final result is a drink which delivers smarter energy and well being benefits.

Kanguru’s ingredients include five natural botanicals – Korean red ginseng, yerba mate, guarana, schisandra and green tea, as well as complex B vitamins, taurine and caffeine and natural flavours. More than 90 per cent of the caffeine is derived naturally from the botanical ingredients. Kanguru, produced by Red Kangaroo Beverages, is manufactured in Australia under the country’s strict food standards.
