Australia Post Group CEO and Managing Director Christine Holgate and Minister for Foreign Affairs The Hon Julie Bishop MP launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Special Edition Stamp Pack at Banksia Ignite on Friday 15 June.

Australia Post released the SDG Stamp Pack to mark its commitment to a sustainable future through raising awareness of the SDGs. The 17 goals provide a blueprint to put the world on a sustainable path to 2030 and address pressing economic, social and environmental challenges. As one of the first Australian organisations to embrace the SDGs, the business recognises the importance of these global goals and that the business case for sustainable development is strong. The SDGs offer a common and compelling sustainable growth strategy for business and the global economy. In particular, the global goals open up opportunities for businesses to drive innovation, enhance reputation, strengthen employee engagement and secure long-term competitive advantage.

Christine said that addressing the SDGs is critical to seeing our customers, communities and our own business prosper and become more inclusive. The goals cut across all areas of our operations and value chain. “It’s important that people know about the goals and we hope our Special Edition Stamp Pack will spur awareness and conversations amongst the Australian public of how, collectively, we can achieve these important goals,” said Christine.

The SDGs are integrated into a number of the organisation’s business strategies including the Corporate Responsibility Strategy, Enterprise Safety Strategy, Social Procurement Strategy, Environmental Action Plan, and Diversity and Inclusion Strategies. The SDG Special Edition Stamp Pack will be gifted to United Nations delegates from around the globe when Australia gives its first Voluntary National Review on the SDGs at UN Headquarters in July.

The Stamp Pack contains 20 $1 Map of Australia stamps from the Love to Celebrate stamp issue, as well as 20 decorative stamp tabs that graphically portray each SDG. It is available now, online, at participating Post Offices and via mail order on 1800 331 794.
