Joe Snell teaches readers how to make a home calmer and more peaceful in his debut book, Your Best Home: 5 Spaces x 5 Design Steps = A Better Life.

Joe is a registered architect and the director of Snell Architects, having studied the art of building design in both Sydney and Copenhagen.

He believes his passion for improving daily life through home design stems from growing up in a household full of architects.

Joe’s book Your Best Home informs readers about how the design fundamentals of a home can influence the lives of its dwellers.

Joe helps readers to apply and optimise the five fundamental factors in home design: space, light, air, sound, and view.

The book shows how to a home can make residents feel happy, uplifted and secure, and offers tips that can be applied to any house, whether a mansion, apartment or country cottage.

He shows how to apply these to an entry, living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.

“It doesn’t matter how big or small your home,” says Joe. “If its basic design elements are right it will be a wonderful place to live and grow.”

Written for renovators, builders, or those just wanting a quick-fix, Your Best Home teaches our good home design can lead to a better for individuals, families and the greater neighbourhood.

The photography includes homes that Joe has designed himself, as well as houses from other leading Australian architects such as Hannah Tribe and Daniel Boddam.

Joe is also the creative director of gift company The Goods Tube and lighting consultancy LLIGHT.

He was also a judge on the Seven Networks House Rules television program for four seasons.

Joe has continued to write and contribute to many media articles on architecture and design over the past decade.
