Entries have officially opened for emerging and established artists to submit their work in the 2021 Queensland Music Awards (QMAs).

Artists and bands who have released new music/material from the 30 of November 2019 to December 1st, 2020, are eligible for entry. Applications close 11.59 pm (AEST), Thursday 14 January 2021. Produced and presented by QMusic, the QMA will be hosted in the Fortitude Music Hall located in Fortitude Valley Brisbane on April 20, 2021.

Angela Samut, CEO of QMusic, says “we are thrilled to be opening entries for the QMAs and to end this year on a high note. “The past 12 months have been extremely tough on our industry, however, there has been such inspiring and groundbreaking music released in 2020 along with creative and unique music videos that we expect the 2021 Awards to be competitive and a night of celebration.”

The 2021 QMAs will contain a total of 16 self-nominated categories. Within these 16 award categories, two new categories, Children’s Music and Contemporary Classical, have been added for the 2021 QMAs.

The total list of self-nominated categories are: Indigenous, Blues/Roots, Children’s Music (NEW), Contemporary Classical (NEW), Country, Electronic/Dance, Folk/Singer-Songwriter, Heavy
Hip Hop/Rap, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Schools (Grades 6-12), Soul/Funk/R’n’B, World, and Video (Filmmakers only).

The People’s Choice Awards will be returning, the 2021 QMAs welcoming back the previously established award with details and public nominations planned to be announced in early 2021. Tickets for the QMAs will be available in early 2021 for purchase.
