Engaged within three and a half months and married within a year and a half, this was a love at first sight that happened “by miracle”. Sparked by a conversation via the online dating app, Bumble, Geoff Stevenson was Bridgette-Rose Taylor’s first swipe.

Upon their brief back and forth chit-chat, their first date followed by taking a journey around Brisbane. The couple started with a few drinks in Southbank which led to a divine dinner at Madame Wu in the city. “Geoff is from the Gold Coast, so I had to plan everything. Talk about pressure,” said Bridgette. After taking the risk of planning the entire date, it turned out Bridgette had made all the right decisions. “We had so much in common. We were both competitive swimmers, our fathers were both doctors, we like and dislike the same foods; the list is endless,” said Bridgette.

With a mutual infatuation, Geoff said he knew from the moment he met Bridgette he wanted to marry her. Choosing what he thought was the perfect spot to pop the question, the front door of Bridgette’s apartment, Geoff proposed to her with a two carat pear diamond with a halo setting, at the very first place the two locked eyes. After Bridgette agreed to marry the love of her life, the whirlwind of wedding plans came next. It took Bridgette and her mother about 12 months to organise. The first venue they looked at was the one Bridgette and Geoff chose, The Greek Club. The venue could be utilised for both the wedding ceremony and wedding reception. The smitten pair confirmed the venue, and locked in 140 guests and a bridal party of 14 for a black tie formal celebration of Mr and Mrs Stevenson. “The Greek Club made things so easy. I felt comfortable knowing I could rely on them,” said Bridgette.

Floral arrangements were made by Brisbane Market Flowers, Euphorie Studios designed and created Bridgette’s bridal gown, six bridesmaids’ gowns, flower girl dresses and her mother’s dress. “The [bridal] gown itself took nine months to create from start to finish.” The groomsmen suits were Dom Bagnato. Before Bridgette and Geoff knew, it was their wedding day, just 17 months after the pair had met. Despite a slight wedding dress emergency on the wedding day, involving a cup of coffee and an accidental spillage on the train of Bridgette’s gown, a quick call into Leon’s Fine Dry Cleaning enabled them to take control of the situation. The bridal dress had thankfully been saved.

“Within three hours, the dress was clean and dried. What a morning,” she said. Bridgette said the bridal party was so large, they chose to use Townsend School Bus Services as their form of transport on the wedding day. “This was lots of fun and made the day very memorable; I want to do it all again,” said Bridgette. The couple described their wedding as amazing. Bridgette and Geoff took their honeymoon on a romantic worldwide adventure. Starting in Tahiti, the couple travelled to The Caribbean and finished off in New York City.
