Camerata has launched a new online initiative 5@5 in response to the changing times in which we live. The constant online, often negative news cycle can be a little overwhelming for some, so in response, for five minutes at 5pm (AEST) every day, Camerata invites viewers to tune in and tune out from the barrage of online noise.

The 5@5 is a great opportunity for people to get to know Camerata’s artists and friends (who will be performing from where they are self isolating), while they play something in an effort to spread a little joy. Launched on Monday 23 March, Camerata will play five minutes each day (Monday to Friday) for as long as our communities, near and far, need soothing. Head over to Camerata’s Facebook at 5pm (AEST) daily for a new performance. Immediately following the Facebook broadcast, performances will remain online for viewing and sharing. They will also be made available via Camerata’s YouTube channel.

Performing without a conductor, Camerata’s Artistic Associates and their guests proudly take full ownership of their music making in the spirit of chamber music to form a thriving, refreshing and acclaimed voice to empower artists, inspire audiences, and enrich communities through music. Under Artistic Director Brendan Joyce, the group is Company-in-Residence at Queensland Performing Arts Centre and undertakes an annual regional Queensland tour and subscription concert season in both Brisbane and Toowoomba.

As Artistic Associates, players contribute to the strategic direction of Camerata, are integral to the process of programming the season of works, and provide performance and training opportunities for the next generation of Queensland artists through the Upbeat program. With a reputation for innovation and interesting and adventurous programming, the ensemble is extremely flexible in its repertoire and thrives in collaborations with artists from all art forms.
