Disgusting Diseases puts the ‘D’ in Disgusting and a capital ‘G’ in Gross and Gruesome. This book explores the most disgusting diseases through the ages—from Ebola, parasites, worms and augs, rabies, typhoid and typhus, Black Death, bloodsuckers and malaria. The book also delves into their crazy and horrible treatments and cures, which were sometimes worse than the illness itself. What exactly did our ancestors have to put up with and how do we interact with these nasty illnesses today? All is revealed in Disgusting Diseases.

Young people have a tremendous appetite for the gruesome, scary and downright freaky. However, the material has to be presented in a humorous manner that while, still absolutely fascinating, won’t scare the kids (or their parents) away. Each chapter is between 2000 and 3000 words long and includes text and a selection of at least five brilliant images intermixed with light hearted captions. Despite the rather gruesome material, the book is presented with a positive moral message.
