Depo is a very cool and exciting new venue located on Horan Street in West End. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (Thurs-Sun) and of course for drinks, this new restaurant/bar is fast making a name for itself as the hippest place in Brisbane (and who doesn’t like a neighbourhood watering hole?!) Because that is exactly what is charming about this place – located opposite a school and in a suburban street in West End, off the bustle of Boundary and Vulture Streets, Depo is unique to the area and more so, unique to Brisbane.

Designed by Brisbane-based Alexander Lotersztain (of Derlot, and designer of Alfred & Constance, Limes Hotel, 111 Eagle Street) in partnership with Dutch chef Erik Van Gendern – the product of this fantastic union is a stunning European-inspired venue and menu alike.

This Thursday I was lucky enough to attend the launch of Depo’s Aperetivo nights – these are Italian-inspired evenings where guests can enjoy a cocktail paired with an anti-pasto snack.

Tonight, I drink a Bellini, snack on pate (and it’s my personal belief pate is extremely undervalued as a food item in general, so I’m thrilled); and enjoy the company of some very special neighbours.

Tonight is like a ‘who’s who’ of the West End area; I meet a number of prominent business owners in the area, firstly; Nick (of The End Bar fame) who is currently in the process of opening another bar on Vulture street – and I hear it’s something completely different from The End … so stay tuned on that one.

Secondly I meet the new Cobbler Bar owners, Asa and Martin, who tell me business at this new BYO-food-Whiskey bar is booming.

Lastly I get to chatting with the lovely Leah from the Happy Cabin on Vulture Street – a retail store stocking men and women’s apparel from every corner of the globe.

Depo is yet another new venture in the 4101 area that cements the fact that this area is becoming more and more exciting every day. A great time for Brisbane, and a great time for those lucky enough to live in the vicinity of such offerings! If this is the way West End is heading, I just can’t wait for what the near future will bring.

This was an evening of fun, meeting and greeting and getting-to-know you’s in this wonderful new venue – if you haven’t been into Depo yet, get your skates on, you won’t be disappointed!

* Depo’s Aperetivo evenings occur every Thursday night… make sure you drop in, you’ll probably find you’ll want to stay a while
