International Sunglasses Day
Cancer Council Queensland is calling on all Queenslanders to slide on wrap-around sunnies this International Sunglasses Day. The organisation recommends Queenslanders wear close-fitting wraparound sunglasses and a broad-brimmed hat to protect the eyes from ultraviolet (UV) radiation when the UV level is three or above. Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan said UV exposure in both adults and children can lead to permanent and preventable eye-damage. “International Sunglasses Day brings attention to the importance of UV eye protection and we are taking this opportunity to remind people how vital it is to remain sun safe in Queensland all year round,” Ms McMillan said.
