Newmarket Village’s dedicated pooch festival, New’bark’et Dog Festival, returns following the success of its inaugural year. Taking on a new form, Newmarket Village welcomes Brisbane’s first Canine Circus, with the highly popular Dog Parade, featuring hilarious categories like The Bearded Lady (messiest bed head), The Strong Man (most muscly dog) and The Fortune Teller (best costume). Get a poochy-pic taken via the event’s dedicated Pupparazzi, play in the Circus Zone complete with hula hoops and ball pits. Inspired by Chris Lilley’s Jana Melhoopen-Jonks (Lunatics), the event will see its own Pet Psychic, ‘Madame Dogma’ host paw, crystal and energic readings. There are wellness talks by Mind Body and Bowl, Insta-famous pooch pow-wows and Adoption Walk ‘n’ Talks with Happy Tails Animal Rescue and Hear No Evil Australia. Dress your pet for success and peruse the cutest outfits, accessories and toys on offer at the Woof Market, featuring crowd favourites Pablo & Co. and new stalls like L’Barkery. All dogs welcome, however must be on leads.
