Paraplegic model Jason Clymo will headline upcoming fashion event, FashionAble.

The fashion show, which promotes diversity, will be held at the Emporium Hotel in Fortitude Valley on 21 October.

Compered by Brisbane fashion icon Di Cant and hosted by Channel 7’s TV personality Kim Skubris, FashionAble is the pre-eminent event for leading Queensland disability support service provider Multicap.

Jason, who uses a wheelchair after an accident in 2014 left him paralysed from the waist down, is building a name for himself in the fashion industry after getting his big break in 2016 when he signed with model agency Wink.

“I am excited to have this opportunity with Multicap,” he said.

“Not only because it will be my first runway experience but also because I love that FashionAble is all about inclusion and diversity. I am campaigning to change the fashion and modelling industries. My huge end goal is that it will no longer be exciting that someone in a wheelchair is on the runway – it will just be normal. We deserve to be recognised,” he said.

The former medical student from Victoria has since featured in various campaigns and catalogues, and is now an ambassador for Starting with Julius and Models of Diversity, organisations that promote diversity in the fashion and model industries.

FashionAble will be Jason’s first runway show.

Multicap Chief Executive Officer Joanne Jessop said Multicap was delighted to have Jason on board.

“FashionAble is all about celebrating ability and diversity so to have Jason involved is wonderful,” she said.

“Multicap loves to lead the way.”

FashionAble will showcase Queensland’s best and emerging designers including When Freddie Met Lilly, Maiocchi, Wil Valor, Sacha Drake, Ruby Yaya, Lula Soul, SFH Design, Jericho Road Clothing and Kylie Heagney Millinery.
