Long-time friends turned business partners Riley, Michael, Pete and Gareth have opened stylish, friendly alfresco hangout Fuelled Cafe on Merivale Street in South Brisbane.

When the opportunity to secure a spot in the coveted location arose, Riley said the quartet could not pass up on the offer to create a destination that offered old-fashioned customer service paired with amazing food and coffee. “South Brisbane needed a great café that provided quick take-away drinks and food,” said Riley with a grin. “Add in a terrific modern and relaxed environment? That’s the difference! It is very rare to have a café in the city that has great service, a garden view and seating for all your friends and family.”

‘Grammable food meets perfectly concocted coffee in a contemporary, relaxed atmosphere at the street-side nook the boys now call home. The morning crowd is mainly professionals, looking for their Quattro Coffee Roasters buzz before heading to the office, while in the daytime the seats are occupied by families. With shaded outdoor seating in the garden for up to 30, and an indoor stone island complete with USB and power ports for workers on the move, Riley and his gang has created a hub for the diverse needs of the 4101 community. “In the kitchen we wanted to build a state-of the art, well-oiled machine equipped with high-tech ovens and touch television screens, both for efficiency and also reducing power and paper wastage. Overall, we believe it culminates to the best café experience in Brisbane!”

The boys say “coffee is what gets us up in the morning – literally”, following a passion for the industry that began with simply guzzling brews in the morning. Their combined 30 years experience in the hospitality industry does not go astray, morphing their simple love of coffee into an interest in the cultivation process, to finally running their own business.

Fuelled Cafe is situated in the Ivy and Eve apartment building at 28 Merivale Street and is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and drinks.
