As per usual, Boundary Street is a hive of activity, traffic and people bustle by under the gleaming sun. Perfectly in-fitting with this lifestyle is the Swiss Gourmet Delicatessen, a family run place, with an incredibly friendly hue about it.
The shopfront window displays an abundance of cured meat and cheeses. However, that is not the reason I am here; I am of course here for the coffee. Owners Maria and Peter Marinelli welcome me as I take a seat outside, allowing me to enjoy the the buzz of central West End. My cappuccino arrives, with its delicious aroma, and smooth froth floating atop, crowned with a sprinkling of cocoa for a hint of sweetness. The coffee, Vittoria, was rich and full-flavoured – as good as it gets.
Topping that off, I also had a famed Portuguese Baked Custard Tart, freshly baked and still piping hot. The pastry made way for its moorish sweet creamy custard innards, bursting with a hit of vanilla, certainly making for a tasty delight. Overall, the Swiss Gourmet Delicatessen is a fantastic place pull up a chair, watch the world go by and enjoy a coffee and freshly-baked bite to eat.
