For office workers in West End, lunchtimes are about to get even better.
Free Hip Hop Pilates classes will be held in the historic Peters Ice Cream Factory building at West Village in West End every Tuesday from 12.15pm until 8 September. The program is run by Katie Dickens of East Brisbane’s The Transform Method Studio. She has a passion for fitness that engages every individual.
The idea behind Hip Hop Pilates came from fielding numerous questions about the enjoyment of certain exercises, weight loss and muscle toning. Katie found that for a lot of people, Pilates seemed to lack the exciting “energy” of other exercises. She then set about combining the fun and freedom of Hip Hop dancing with the whole body toning regiments of Pilates. “Hip Hop Pilates still tightens, tones and lengthens muscles but incorporates standing and mat exercises with old-school R&B beats,” she said.
Andrew Thompson, West Village Project Director, said that the half- hour classes are ‘suitable for beginners and are designed to give people a fun introduction to this new style of fitness’ as well as the chance to make new friends from other workplaces in the West End area.
