Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has announced the finalists for this year’s highly anticipated Lord Mayor’s Business Awards. The awards showcase businesses and entrepreneurs who have made outstanding contributions to the continued growth of the City’s economy. “The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards elevate the best and most innovative businesses and people in Brisbane,” Cr Schrinner said.

This years awards will cover 11 categories with the introduction of two new areas of achievement. The award for Outstanding Micro Business will showcase distinguished businesses which employ less than five people and the Award for Outstanding Social Enterprise will recognise businesses that are making a significant social impact. “Many successful and innovative businesses call Brisbane home, and I urge those that are helping to raise the profile of Brisbane, build our economy and enrich our social fabric to nominate,”

With 56 nominees across all categories this years competition is looking stronger than ever with significant emphasis on sustainability, small businesses and young entrepreneurs. Solaire Properties notably took out two award nominations; the Yurika Award for Environmental Sustainability in Business and the Brisbane City Council Award for Outstanding Micro Business. The Brisbane-based property development company works on redefining the construction model to focus on luxurious, sustainable and technologically-advanced designs and builds.

The award recipients will be announced at a gala dinner ceremony at City Hall on 18 October and will place innovative local businesses on the national stage, “Past winners have gone on to achieve greater levels of professional and personal success and make valuable new connections within Brisbane’s dynamic business community.” Cr. Schrinner added. The full list of nominees can be found here.
