Consumer technology company Cycliq, who produce electronic safety accessories for cyclists, is the host for the global premiere of Middle Aged Men in Lycra (MAMIL), a feature length film about the secret world of middle aged cyclists.

The documentary exposé journeys through Australia, the US, and the UK to uncover the stories of bike riding obsessed middle aged men while following them on their Lycra journeys.

Cycliq Executive Chairman Chris Singleton admits that there are a few MAMILs in his company’s team.

“We wanted to support a film that is entertaining and funny, while still broaching some of the more serious issues cyclists encounter while doing the sport we love,” said Chris.

Cycliq was founded when self-confessed MAMIL Kingsley Fiegert when he was injured by a ball bearing fired from a slingshot during a bike ride through the Perth Hills in Australia. Shaken by the incident, Fiegert co-founded Cycliq, which is now the leading supplier of dashcams for bikes.

“Our Cycliq devices feature prominently in the film. We are a bike camera company, so it was a natural fit that we support a film about cycling,” said Chris.

Narrated by professional cycling commentator legend Phil Liggett,  MAMIL explores the many of the issues these men face while out on the road, including anger towards cyclists, and road safety as well as other common themes these MAMILs are confronted with, such as mental health issues.

MAMIL looks at the reasons why men take to the road. It tackles male depression, and speaks to the women left behind. It also demonstrates how important road safety is while cycling, making Cycliq the perfect company to join with us for this film,” said Demand Film CEO, David Doepel.

The screenings of the new film coincide with Cycliq’s launch of the Connected Edition ranges of its Fly6 rear-facing and Fly12 front-facing cameras.

Middle Aged Men in Lycra will be in selected cinemas throughout the USA, UK, and Australia in February.
