I was born in remote village of Nepal, in Gorkha. We lived in the countryside and I studied at a good public school that was very far from our home. I used to walk at least two hours to get there and two hours to get back every day. I studied hard and my parents and teachers were supportive. I was always coming first in my class.

In the final exam for my school leaving certificate, I came first in the whole country in the science subject, among at least 200,000 people who took the same exam. This made me very interested in a future in science. I studied my last two years of school in Kathmandu. Here I continued to do well in my studies and decided to study ayurveda after school.

Ayurvedic medicine is a six-year full-time university degree, in Kathmandu. Ayurvedic medicine is taught holistically. It is the culmination of modern and traditional medicine. The purpose of learning one medicine is to understand the diagnostic tools of modern science.

After this study, I went to different parts of India for more training of ayurvedic medicine and therapeutic yoga. I began working in ayurvedic hospitals, first in India and then in Nepal. These were very busy and I would sometimes see more than 100 patients in a day. Some of my relatives were here in Brisbane, and they kept telling me that this is a great place to live. I came with my wife in early 2008. When I arrived in Brisbane, I started to look for the possibility of practising ayurvedic medicine. Finally I established my first ayurvedic clinic at Core Yoga Studio in West End. I became very busy and noticed a very strong need for this holistic ayurvedic treatment in Brisbane. This gave me the confidence to start my own practice in 2013.

We mostly see people who come to me for lifestyle consultations. I find out people’s body-mind type and then the root cause of their health problems. I am enjoying it very much because most of my patients get great benefit from this natural therapy.

We treat all health problems with different methods according to a patient’s body type. We use exercise, herbs, yoga and holistic treatments and their health improves dramatically.

Many patients are so happy to find their life has changed after completing treatment and programs — they feel like they have new vibrancy and new life. Some people have difficult problems because they find they struggle to make changes to their diet and lifestyle. I make my advice practical and very do-able, so they can start to make changes they haven’t managed before.

Some chronic health problems, like issues with digestion or fatigue, are very quickly treated with ayurvedic medicine. Other problems, like hormonal imbalance and anxiety and stress can also be treated very successfully, but may take three to six months to fix entirely. Taken in conjunction with our detox programs, patients see results much faster.
