“We are very excited to be refurbishing the club. We know this will bring the venue in line with the needs of our valued clients and members,” said General Manager Mr Andrew Tambakis.
“The new designs will embrace a modern Greek aesthetic and expand our offerings with the addition of an upstairs balcony.”
First opening in 1975, The Greek Club has become a Brisbane landmark, hosting a variety of community and cultural functions.
While the upstairs function space was renovated in 2009, the venue’s ground floor has not been renovated since 1995.
The new façade is inteded to be bright white with a smooth rendered finish, incorporating warm brickwork with a touch of greenery. The new design will be continued through the Odyssey Taverna Cafe and Bar, which will feature all new furnishings.
The Taverna kitchen will showcase an open servery so patrons can enjoy the full culinary experience as chefs prepare each meal. Ensuring it can cater for all needs, a standing cocktail area and private dining room will be added.
The function rooms on the lower level will be completely refurbished, offering a modern event space for corporate and private functions.
“Our Greek heritage is at the core of who we are, from our food to our outstanding service to the white arches as you walk through the terrace,” said Tambakis.
“The Greek Club has worked closely with our architects to ensure the essence of our history is present in the refurbished venue.”
The Greek Club will be closed from January 2018 through to the end of March, and will relaunch in April.
