A sell-out crowd (with Union Jacks aplenty) was enraptured by Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s annual special event The Last Night of the Proms at QPAC on Saturday 4 May. The concert is an iconic British institution and in Saturday night’s concert, conducted by Benjamin Northey, Queensland Symphony Orchestra along with Brisbane Chorale and soloists, Diana Doherty (oboe) and Rachelle Durkin (soprano) combined the traditional elements of the Royal Albert Hall event with a uniquely Australian touch, as well as sprinklings of rock, jazz, electronic and 21st Century contemporary styles.
