Pitcher Partners’ entire Brisbane team dedicated its workday to giving back to the community on Friday 21 June. The middle market accounting and advisory firm volunteered with the Salvation Army, AEIOU Foundation and the Pyjama Foundation as part of the firm’s annual Year-end Technical Training Extravaganza (YETTE).

YETTE began as a training day when the firm only had 20 employees and has since grown into a collaborative program centred on uniting the firm through various fun activities. Pitcher Partners Partner, Tom Splatt said he is proud to see the firm’s commitment to giving back to the community for YETTE. “YETTE is an integral part of the firm’s culture and offers an opportunity to connect with people across the firm in a non-office environment, working in teams to achieve a common goal. I think the fact each team will be volunteering with a local charity this Friday really speaks volumes about the firm’s desire to make a positive difference within our community. It’s been brilliant to see everyone being so excited about the format of the day, and the chance to give back to the community,” he said.

Those volunteering at the Salvation Army assisted with merchandising in some of the Brisbane retail stores alongside serving food in Fortitude Valley, while volunteers working with AEIOU assisted with the edible sensory garden. The Salvation Army’s Queensland Public Relations Secretary, Simon Gregory said the ongoing support from Pitcher Partners brings great value to the foundations success. “The Salvation Army is thrilled to enjoy the ongoing support of Pitcher Partners and the activities happening on Friday only add to the depth of our relationship. Pitcher Partners staff will be volunteering at five different Salvation Army services across Brisbane and this collaboration will make a huge difference for the people we support each day,” he said.

The employees helping the Pyjama Foundation crafted and wrote cards to children in the foster care system and packed bundles for Pyjama Angels; mentors that empower children through learning. CEO of the Pyjama Foundation, Bronwyn Sheehan-Founder said without corporate volunteers like Pitcher Partners, the foundation would not be able to accomplish what they do. “I am always humbled by the commitment of corporates like Pitcher Partners, donating their valuable time to support our operations. Without this generosity, we couldn’t possibly achieve the work we have throughout the years supporting more than 1400 children in the foster care system,” she said.
