The South Brisbane Croquet Club is being renovated into a community space for everyone to enjoy, and West End Community House and Community Plus are asking locals to help bring this new project to life.
Established in 1897, the space in Musgrave Park has undergone construction since 2010. The community has raised over $200,000 so far for renovations on the heritage building.
After completion, the venue will be available to for community use and hire for events such as festivals, markets, celebrations, entertainment, exhibitions, community activities and training conferences.
While the community has had huge successes with raising much needed funds so far, there is still an extra $50,000 required to finish the new venue off.
The Pledge a Plank Campaign was established to help finish the project, giving the public the opportunity to donate to this fantastic community project. In turn, those who donate will have their very own personalised message immortalised in a plank used in the entrance walk way of the new venue.
When donating $150 or more, your contributed plank will be engraved with your choice of wording, whether that be your own name, or someone else’s, as a gift or acknowledgement.
With so few remaining community venues in South Brisbane, the vision stands of opening this new community hall as an accessible, safe, comfortable, and a well-resourced space for the community to share.
