irty Dancing is back on stage in Australia for its 10th Anniversary Tour! Leading Australian theatre producer John Frost brings your favourite classic love story, along with timeless hit songs, to QPAC.

It’s the Summer of 1963 and Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman holidays with her family in New York’s Catskill Mountains. Bored by the humdrum of the resort’s daily activities, Baby stumbles upon a staff dance party. She becomes fascinated with the dancers’ raunchy moves and swinging hips, and soon falls in love with this new kind of groove. Not to mention, she also falls in love with the dreamy Johnny Castle – the resort’s dance instructor. Baby’s life changes forever when she must step up to become Johnny’s partner on and off the stage.

QPAC’s production showcases an all-star cast of extremely talented performers. Kurt Phelan (Singin’ in the Rain and Saturday Night Fever) dances his heart out as the cool Johnny Castle; he’s strong and sensitive and there’s just something about the way he says, “Nobody puts Baby in a corner!” Small town girl Kirby Burgess (Hairspray and High School Musical) plays the sweet and determined Baby who fights for what she loves – including Johnny. Maddie Peat plays long-legged dancing queen, Penny Johnson – Johnny’s former dance partner who gets mixed up in drama of her own. Mark Vincent (winner of Australia’s Got Talent, 2009) plays Billy Kostecki, Johnny’s cousin. Mark steals the show during his rendition of “In the Still of the Night.”

Who could forget that incredible lift at the end? Kurt and Kirby absolutely rock the famous scene where Baby soars above Johnny’s head. Dirty Dancing plays at QPAC from May 27 – July 19. Book tickets at www.qpac.com.au – you’ll have the time of your life!
