Ten years ago, ABBA fans around the world went crazy for the film release of Mamma Mia – a musical film about love and relationships with the greatest hits of ABBA woven into it. A decade later, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has hit the big screens to take us back to the very beginning.

The musical journey begins in 1979 –  the year young Donna Sheridan graduates from Oxford University and embarks on an adventure through Europe to find her true calling. Along the way, she makes the acquaintances of Harry, Bill and Sam – eventually falling in love with Sam, but also having her heart broken by him. In the present day, Donna’s daughter Sophie is busy renovating her mother’s hotel on the Greek island of Kalokairi in time for its reopening party.

The film cleverly shifts between the past and present to reveal that while Donna and Sophie grew up differently, they shared significant similarities at the same time in their lives, which in turn brings Sophie closer to her mother than ever before.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is more than a film – it is an experience. Especially if you are a loyal fan of the first Mamma Mia film and of course, ABBA. All of the classics including Waterloo, Dancing Queen and Fernando, plus some fresh and unfamiliar numbers are woven into the story with a purpose to fit the mood of each scene. The original cast is back and better than ever including Amanda Seyfried (Sophie), Meryl Streep (Donna) and Pierce Brosnan (Sam). However, the movie would not have been as fantastic as it is without some new cast members including Lily James (Young Donna), Jeremy Irvine (Young Sam) and of course, the one and only Cher (Ruby Sheridan).

Playing in cinemas now, do yourself a favour and see Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. Take your friend, take your sister, or better yet, take your mum. Because I promise you will dance, you will jive, and you will have the time of your life.
