Table 26 owner Amit Maharaj was drawn to Riverside because of its prime location in West End, which has become a favourite for Brisbane foodies and boasted a fast-growing local population. His restaurant will operate from breakfast through dinner, its homey atmosphere aiming for diners to feel more like family than customers.
“I want people to come to Table 26 and feel at home straight away, because that is how I remember Dad. He was always so welcoming and would not let anyone leave until their bellies were full and they had a smile on their face.” stated Maharaj.
“My father helped me set up and run my first cafe in West End, and was integral to the business. He always aspired for us to open more restaurants and cafes together,” said Maharaj.
“Dad’s birthday is on the 26th and we will always have a table reserved at number 26 in his honour. My vision is to expand, grow, and open multiple Table 26 restaurants around Queensland, with every cafe having a table set aside for Dad.”
Table 26 will be Maharaj’s second cafe, following the popular West End Park Cafe which has operated since 2003.
“West End is already renowned as a foodie hub so we have worked hard to add to this by offering a high standard and broad range of ‘to go’ grocery and fresh food items,” he said.
Pradella director Kim Pradella said Table 26 and NightOwl will add to the lifestyle and convenience on offer at Riverside West End and the eclectic mix of restaurants, cafes and retailers now operating in the area.
“Our vision for Riverside has always been to create a community where the emphasis is on lifestyle, with an array of amenities on site for residents including pools, parklands and a health oasis, and the addition of Table 26 and NightOwl complements that mix,” Kim said.
