The Greek Club’s recently opened signature Greek restaurant Nostimo Restaurant & Bar has won the title for Best Greek Restaurant Award at the 2018 Queensland & Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence, announced at a gala dinner at the Royal International Convention Centre on Monday 27 August.
Since its launch in June this year, Chef in Residence David Tsirekas and his team have created a refined, modern Greek offering, celebrating traditional Greek flavours with sophisticated execution – a direct reflection of Tsirekas’ signature style of using traditional knowledge with creative flair. The Greek Club’s General Manager Andrew Tambakis said the state-wide awards were a huge honour, shining the spotlight on and rewarding some of the industry’s best. “Nostimo Restaurant & Bar’s nomination and win is testament to the professionalism of our dedicated team, led by Chef in Residence, David Tsirekas, who come to work each day with a passion for excellence,” said Andrew. “It’s their drive that continues to deliver the highest quality products and exemplary Hellenic hospitality and we look forward to continuing to deliver on our promise to provide unique and inspiring experiences for our guests.”
The Awards for Excellence saw more than 150 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gather to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judges over 37 categories. The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judges awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state and is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience. The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners. The sores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.
The Greek Club was also a finalist in the Wedding Caterer and Function/Convention Centre Caterer categories.
