The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) hosted the 12th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) on Thursday 29 November. More than 500 guests celebrated Asia Pacific filmmaking at a glittering gala ceremony in the Great Hall, honouring films that best reflect the region’s cultural origins and the people behind this excellence. Kore-eda Hirokazu’s Shoplifters (Manbiki Kazoku) was named Best Feature Film, Burning from the Republic of Korea, was awarded the Jury Grand Prize, while the Cultural Diversity Award, went to Indonesia’s Garin Nugroho and Ifa Isfansyah for Memories of My Body.
