Boutique beer bar Archive has a reputation for serious dedication to brews from around the world. The latest beer to flow through their taps is all the way from Brooklyn in New York City—Sixpoint Brewery.

Shane Welch founded Sixpoint Brewery with Andrew Bronstein in 2004 and visited Brisbane to meet patrons at Archive and introduce their range of beers. It was Shane’s first sortie to our humble city, and it seemed he enjoyed meeting locals who love beer as much as he does.

The Sixpoint Brewery founders believe that “beer is culture” and claim that the Sixpoint Brewers’ star is an icon which adorned various brewing vessels since beer was first cultivated. At Archive, there are four Sixpoint beers on tap: Bengali Tiger (American IPA), Otis (Oatmeal Stout), Righteous Ale (American Wheat or Rye) and Signal (Smoked IPA). It was enlightening to taste the four together; I appreciated the distinct flavours of each style. Beers of this quality prove that the beverage need not be thought of as a homogenous commodity—each bottle is unique.
