They have garnered a reputation as Australia’s “showgirls of opera”. Now the 7 Sopranos are getting set to throw off their classic opera gowns in favour of 1950s pin-up girl style.

Their new album Popcorn-Songs from Stage and Screen features well known-hits from the forties and fifties. Launching on October 7, the new album features well-known tracks When I Fall in Love, Moon River and Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend all delivered in coquettish show-girl style. It wouldn’t be a 7 Sopranos album without opera and the girls do not disappoint with additional arrangements by acclaimed composers Rogers & Hammerstein, Gershwin, and Mancini.

The 7 Sopranos are a group of talented Australian singers who have become known for their ability to seduce listeners with beautiful blended harmonies and spine-tingling arrangements. All Australian based opera singers, many of the 7 Sopranos’ girls are leading young singers and regular soloists with Opera Australia. Now the girls are channeling their versatile voices to evoke memories of Hollywood glamour. Founded by Creative director Tarita Botsman, Popcorn-Songs from Stage and Screen is the much-anticipated follow-up to the girls debut self-titled album, released in 2013, which reached number two on the ARIA charts.

Popcorn-Songs from Stage and Screen is on sale from 7 October. For stockist details visit here.
