If you’re an emerging artist, band, or musical act from Brisbane and looking to take your art to the next level- the QUBE Effect is a great place to get started. Providing 24 of Brisbane’s best emerging musical acts with an opportunity to be a part of the Brisbane City Council’s flagship contemporary music development program.

Held across an inspirational 6 month period, the program offers high profile live performance opportunities, industry prizes, your own professionally filmed music video, and more. The Brisbane City Council and the Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre are putting out last calls for the city’s best musical talent. Applicants can get involved and register to be mentored by some of Brisbane’s most influential music industry experts.

The 2021 expert panel, session facilitators, and music mentors are yet to be announced but 2020’s impressive lineup is sure to entice young musicians. The 2020 lineup included ARIA award-winning producer, engineer Dr. Lachlan ‘Magoo’ Goold, Tyler McLoughlan, Director of The Sound Pound, Q Music, The Tivoli, and Brisbane based record label Dew Process (home for Bloc Party. Bernard Fanning, WAAX, Mallrat, and Mumford & Suns).

The experience will give musicians from all backgrounds and genres the opportunity to expand their art and grow as an artist. BEMAC’s Creative Producer of QUBE Effect 2020, Queenie Pelesa of District Studio will again be in charge of the 2021 program.

The QUBE Effect alumni have gone on play in festivals including Brisbane Festival’s Street Serenades and Splendour in the Grass. Successful applicants will learn about copyright, publicity, and how to navigate the music world. “Being a part of the QUBE Effect in 2020 has been an eye-opening experience- it’s helped me to really focus on who we are as a band, and helped to grow both creatively and professionally,” said the MVP a participant from the 2020 program.
