The Royal Ballet’s The Winter’s Tale celebrated its opening night at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on Thursday, 6 July. The Winter’s Tale, choreographed by The Royal Ballet’s Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon, is the first full length adaptation of a Shakespeare play by the company since Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s 1965 production of Romeo and Juliet and is Wheeldon’s eighth work choreographed for the company. The Royal Ballet performances at QPAC were accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) Music Director Alondra de la Parra conducted five performances of The Winter’s Tale, sharing the baton with The Royal Ballet’s guest conductor Tom Seligman conducting two performances of the production.
