“Darkness falls across the land, the midnight hour is close at hand. Creatures crawl in search of blood, to terrorise y’alls neighborhood… “

With these lyrics, Brisbane was cast under the magical spell of the late and great Michael Jackson with the opening of Thriller Live at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 15th January. The show celebrates the brilliance of Jackson for the sixth year in 2015 as it travels the globe on a world tour.

Knowing that it is virtually impossible to fill the famed ‘anti-gravity shoes’ of Michael Jackson, the show makes for a fun and energetic tribute to the music. The legend lives on through the musical performances of the cast. The show moonwalks audiences through his journey from the Jackson 5’s disco days to the years he broke records with #1 hits and multiple Grammys.

Being in the Concert Hall of QPAC for the show is electrifying with the live music and dance. In particular, Prinnie Stevens and Mig Ayesa bring on the emotion and attitude with their stellar vocals. Unsung heroes are also the band members behind the scenes dishing out the sweet beats. So much so it is difficult to stay put in your seat!

There are moments in the show with audience participation but that surely didn’t stop some fans from dancing on the side. The same fate awaits show-goers as though “you fight to stay alive, your body starts to shiver, for no mere mortal can resist, the evil of the thriller!”
