One of Brisbane’s biggest street party will return to Fortitude Valley this year, with a revamped Valley Fiesta to welcome up to 65,000 fans from Wednesday 29 August to Sunday 2 September.

Cr Quirk said Fiesta would be back with a new look for 2018, with live music, theatre and arts across the Valley in association with new producer QMusic for the 22nd edition of the event. “Valley Fiesta has been showcasing the best of Brisbane’s music and arts scene since launching in 1997, celebrating the work of local acts and showing just why our city is regarded as a great place to live, work and relax,” Cr Quirk said. “This year’s Fiesta will include a range of free and ticketed events across the Fortitude Valley precinct, with a number of local venues, laneways and shops all involved, as well as exciting outdoor performances, theatre and art installations. Council is dedicated to creating new lifestyle and leisure opportunities for all ages to enjoy and Valley Fiesta is one of more than 50,000 festivals, events and markets we help to deliver each year.”

Highlights of the new five day Fiesta format include a ground-breaking visual arts showcase that includes building lighting, projection mapping, installations and décor, a themed performance stage in Brunswick Street Mall and a special program of active events as part of activity weekend. “Valley Fiesta will once again provide a fantastic platform for our city’s emerging musical and creative talent, with a packed program of performers to be announced soon,” Cr Quirk said. “As the home of a number of iconic Brisbane events and the highest concentration of live music venues in Australia, Fortitude Valley has become recognised as an iconic 24-hour Brisbane destination and I’m looking forward to the return of its flagship festival.”
