Brisbane restaurants MODA Restaurant, Harveys, Signature by Emporium, 1889 Enoteca and La Macellaria Gelateria have released their menus created for Foodbank Queensland’s World Food Day fundraiser. Each menu was inspired by Italian cuisine and will be unveiled at Foodbank Queensland’s annual fundraiser.

“Events such as this help to raise awareness to the issue of food insecurity in our communities, for those not just on the street but those in our streets. Especially important as we recover from recent fires and continue to fight hunger for those who are drought affected.” says Michael Rose, Chief Executive Officer at Foodbank Queensland.

Harvey’s will showcase the beef cheek with the team serving slow cooked beef cheeks in sangiovese with wood roasted mushrooms and thyme. 1889 Enoteca will be serving cured meats with home made bread and dips from the salumi bar. “In the food industry we see waste, so it’s a nice synergy to be involved in an event like this, to see the direct action from food rescue to food relief,” said Manny Sakellarakis from 1889 Enoteca.

The chefs from Signature by Emporium Hotels South Bank and MODA will be creating their dishes from produce that is available on the day from the markets, reflecting the “surprise chain” at Foodbank Queensland, which means no two days of delivery to the warehouse are the same and reflects the seasonal nature of farming and products available in stores.

La Macellaria Gelateria will be serving gelatos for dessert and will feature a specially created flavour for Foodbank that will be served on the night. Mr & Mrs G’s Riverbar will be mixing cocktails throughout the evening and craft brewers Green Beacon Brewing will supply a selection of their handcrafted beers and ales, while guests can also enjoy MOET Champagne and other Italian wines.
